Sri Lanka–Indonesia Business Council Holds 2nd Annual General Meeting
The Sri Lanka–Indonesia Business Council of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce recently held its 2nd Annual General Meeting (AGM), with the participation of the Council’s Patron, Ambassador of Indonesia to Sri Lanka Dewi Gustina Tobing.
Leadership Transition
After serving two consecutive years as President, Vish Govindasamy of Sunshine Holdings PLC stepped down, marking the successful completion of his term. In his address, he acknowledged the Ambassador’s instrumental role in re-establishing the Council, while reflecting on key achievements—most notably, the successful business delegation visit to Indonesia.
Shea Wickramasingha of Ceylon Biscuits Ltd. was appointed as the new President for 2025/26. In her remarks, she highlighted the Council’s commitment to fostering sector-specific dialogue between Sri Lankan and Indonesian stakeholders, encouraging members to contribute actively with ideas, requests, and concerns to shape future initiatives.
Strengthening Bilateral Relations
Ambassador Dewi Gustina Tobing delivered a comprehensive address outlining Indonesia’s political and economic outlook, with special reference to Danantara—Indonesia’s sovereign wealth fund designed to promote economic independence, enhance sectoral resilience, improve public welfare, and facilitate inbound and outbound investment.
Adding further depth, Deputy Ambassador Fiki Oktanio presented on Sri Lanka–Indonesia economic relations and opportunities at the upcoming Trade Expo Indonesia 2025, offering valuable insights for Sri Lankan businesses exploring engagement with the Indonesian market.

The newly appointed leadership team includes:

- Senior Vice President: Gerard Victoria (North South Lines)
- Vice President: Ehantha Sirisena (KBSL Information Technologies Ltd.)

The Committee comprises representatives from Aitken Spence Cargo Ltd., Dilmah Ceylon Tea Company PLC, hSenid Business Solutions PLC, Jetwing Travels Ltd., and MAS Capital Ltd.
This second AGM marks a strengthened chapter in Sri Lanka–Indonesia business relations, with renewed leadership and a clear agenda to deepen economic ties, foster collaboration, and create meaningful bilateral opportunities.
