Samaposha Provincial School Games 2025 Kicks Off on August 11 — 25,000 Young Athletes Compete Across 7 Provinces
The Samaposha Provincial School Games 2025, organised by the Provincial Education Department with the patronage of Samaposha, Sri Lanka’s most popular breakfast cereal, will officially kick off on August 11. Spanning seven provinces — Western, Northern, Central, Northwestern, Eastern, Uva, Southern, and Sabaragamuwa — the Games will bring together over 25,000 athletes from 3,000 schools, competing across more than 70 sporting events.
Empowering the Next Generation
Winners will be awarded trophies, certificates, and medals, reinforcing the Games’ role as a springboard for future national-level athletes.
Manjula Dahanayake, Director and CEO of CBL Food Cluster, noted:

Province-Wide Sporting Spirit
The Games will unfold across Sri Lanka’s provinces with key events including:
- Western Province: Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium, Diyagama (Aug 11–14)
- Uva Province: Vincent Dias Stadium, Badulla (Aug 19–23)
- Southern Province: Kotawila Stadium, Matara (Aug 19–22)
- North Central Province: Anuradhapura Public Stadium (Aug 10–23)
- Eastern Province: Weber Stadium, Batticaloa (Sep 3–7)
- Northwestern Province: Albert F. Pieris Stadium, Wennappuwa (Sep 2–6)
- Sabaragamuwa Province: Ruwanwella Public Stadium (Sep 2–6)
Provincial education leaders praised Samaposha’s role in reviving school sports, creating opportunities for talented athletes despite challenges, and promoting pride in regional representation.
Building Champions Under “Dinana Daruwo”
Sachi Fernando, General Manager (Marketing), CBL Food Cluster, summed up the vision:
