Ampara’s Indian-funded Mahatma Gandhi Model Village opens
The inauguration of the Mahatma Gandhi Model Village in Ampara, Sri Lanka, which occurred on October 29, 2023. This project is part of a broader initiative funded by the Government of India to provide housing for low-income families across Sri Lanka. The event was attended by high-ranking officials from both India and Sri Lanka, including the High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka, Santosh Jha, and local ministers. The ongoing Model Village Housing Project aims to support 600 low-income families in all 25 districts of the island with structured housing facilities, high-quality construction, and community empowerment. to the beneficiaries soon.
