Thotalaga saw the beginning of the second phase of the “Clean Sri Lanka” Urban Forest Project.
On the 17th of September, Thotalaga, the Urban Forest Project’s second phase was introduced as part of the “Clean Sri Lanka” campaign. As a result, the President’s Media Division announced that trees have been planted on Colombo Municipal Council land at Thotalaga, transforming it into a protected urban forest. According to the PMD, one unique aspect of this program is that students from Sri Sanghabodhi Maha Vidyalaya, Madampitiya, have been given the duty of protecting and caring for these environmentally significant plants. Under the direction of the Presidential Secretariat, the project is being carried out with the involvement of both the public and private sectors, including the Colombo Municipal Council, the Urban Development Authority, and the Road Development Authority.
