To modernize agricultural practices and change farmer engagement, Hayleys Agriculture introduces the OMNIX Digital System

The largest exporter of processed fruits and vegetables from Sri Lanka, HJS Condiments Ltd., a part of the Hayleys Group, has introduced the OMNIX Digital System, a revolutionary platform that improves traceability throughout the agricultural value chain, modernizes farmer engagement, and streamlines operations.
About 12,500 gherkin farmers who supply to HJS Condiments across more than 350 crop collection centers and more than 20 agricultural projects nationwide directly benefit from the initiative, which was created in collaboration with the Hayleys Group Digital Transformation Team as part of the ongoing Hayleys Digital DNA transformation program.
The platform has the potential to increase Sri Lanka’s competitiveness in international agricultural exports by shifting decision-making from reactive to data-driven, especially in value-added and in-demand commodities like gherkins, which are supplied to some of the top food brands in the world.
Planning is improved and more precise production scheduling is made possible by rolling forecasting tools. Automated payments are made possible by the system, which speeds up cash flow and guarantees that smallholder farmers receive timely and transparent payments. This develops long-term ties with the community and fosters trust.
Using a suite of digital dashboards and analytics tools, managers and extension officers may make better judgments. From identifying emerging patterns to monitoring farmer performance, this application provides valuable insights that enhance operational efficiency.
Extension agents may now more efficiently monitor and direct agricultural activities thanks to mobile-based farmer activity monitoring. This makes professional guidance more accessible and guarantees that farming communities, especially in isolated areas, stay connected and supported.
Because of the platform’s complete integration with SAP systems, access is consistent throughout the company. This guarantees smooth communication and visibility between the boardroom and the field.
Two phases of the system, Farmer Registration and SAP Integration, were already up and running when it went online in July 2025. The third phase, Quality Systems Integration, is scheduled to follow.
In line with the 2030 vision of the Digital Economy Ministry, OMNIX is a unique digital agriculture model that may be applied to the entire sector to hasten Sri Lanka’s transition.
