 Sri Lanka Telecom has named Riyaaz Rasheed as its new CEO

Sri Lanka Telecom PLC (SLT) confirmed the appointment of Riyaaz Rasheed as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective January 1, 2026. The Board of Directors approved his appointment on October 24, 2025. Rasheed has a robust professional background with over 34 years of experience, particularly in telecommunications, having held significant leadership roles in various global firms. His career began with Ernst & Young and included positions like Acting CEO at Robi Axiata PLC in Bangladesh and Deputy CEO roles at Hutchison Telecommunications and Etisalat Sri Lanka. He has also served as CFO at Celltel Lanka Limited and Tigo Lanka. Rasheed possesses an MBA from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura and various professional certifications.
