New graduates from Aitken Spence Institute of Hotel Management assist the hospitality industry

The Aitken Spence Institute of Hotel Management recently held its graduation ceremony at Heritance Ahungalla, celebrating the successful completion of the program by its latest cohort of students. This institute was established in 2007 as part of Aitken Spence Hotels’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative and aims to foster skilled professionals in the hospitality sector, supported by organizations such as TUICare Foundation and the World Sustainable Hospitality Alliance. The program offers a hands-on approach to education in hospitality management through a five-month course focusing on Food & Beverage, Housekeeping, and Professional Cookery. The 2025 graduating class welcomed 46 students from two hotel schools, emphasizing the essential role of this initiative in enhancing job prospects and strengthening Sri Lanka’s hospitality industry. Notably, this cohort included an all-female batch from Ahungalla, showcasing increased female participation in this professional field.
